Anna Nicole Smith: The Actress and Model

Anna Nicole Smith was one of the most popular Playboy models in history. The Texas-born blonde rose to stardom when she appeared in Playboy Magazine’s May 1992 centerfold. Dubbed as “the next Marilyn Monroe,” Anna Nicole Smith became more popular when she was hailed as the 1993 playmate of the year. Smith’s modelling career started when she was signed up to replace super model Claudia Schiffer as the newest endorser of Guess jeans.

In 1993, Swedish fashion giant Hennes and Mauritz (H&M) booked Anna Nicole as their brand ambassador. She rose to international fame when she appeared in big billboards all around Europe. In August of 1994, Smith graced the cover of New York Magazine titled the “White Trash Nation”. She appeared in cowboy boots and a short skirt while eating chips.

Acting Career

Anna Nicole Smith’s acting career started in 1994 when she debuted in the comedy film The Hudsucker Proxy. Later that year, she starred with Fred Ward and Leslie Nielsen in the comedy film Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult. After a series of minor roles, Anna Nicole was featured in a major role for the action/thriller film “To the Limit” in 1996. She played the role of Colette Dubois, a retired spy vying for revenge. During the same year, she starred in a direct-to-video soft porn film entitled Skyscraper. In 1998, Anna Nicole starred in a feature film entitled “Anna Nicole Smith: Exposed.” She was also the writer, director, and producer of the film.

Her star started to dim at the height of the legal battle for her late husband’s estate.  Anna Nicole was then faced with many controversies regarding her acting skills, attitude, and weight gain.

The Anna Nicole Smith Show

After the controversial phase in her life, Anna Nicole began to struggle with financial difficulties and weight gain. In 2002, she signed a contract with the E Cable Network to star in her own reality series called “The Anna Nicole Show.” The show followed her personal life on a day to day basis. Highlights of the show include Anna Nicole’s battle with obesity, financial struggles, shopping sprees, and celibacy period. The show also featured her struggle to cure the sexual activity of her poodle, her feud with interior stylist Bobby Trendy, and her love-hate relationship with her cousin.

The show featured a supporting cast that added more drama and excitement to Anna Nicole’s life. The cast includes Kimmy Walther: a purple-haired overweight woman who was hired by Anna Nicole as her personal assistant; Howard K. Stern, Smith’s personal lawyer; Daniel Smith, Anna Nicole’s son; Bobby Trendy, a flamboyant gay decorator who was shown as the show’s main antagonist; Sugar Pie, Smith’s poodle who has a penchant for having sex with inanimate objects; Shelly Cloud, Smith’s Cousin; and Benjy Bronk.

The Anna Nicole Smith Show was the highest-rated show in the history of E Cable Network. It became a favorite among college girls and the gay community. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled in February 2004 due to a sharp drop in ratings.

Last Films

Anna Nicole Smith returned to the big screen by playing herself in the 2003 film Wasabi Tuna. She appeared as herself again in the crime/comedy film “Cool” in 2005. She starred alongside The Rock, Uma Thurman, and John Travolta.
